I really used to like listening to John Lee in the earlier PFH books (The Dreaming Void etc) but his later stuff has become very nasal and he makes all the characters quite unlikeable - I had to stop listening to the remakes of the Night’s Dawn trilogy :(

I couldn’t do the first book, trying book 2 I always think hey! that Peter Hamilton book sounds good but always he tricks me, always becoming disappointed once again. His writing drags on and on, it’s as if he writes in order to fill a document with words, I had a hard time trying to under stand what the story was about. Why this guy is a best seller boggles my mind
I think maybe people read them in order to think themselves smart

Agree about John Lee. Awful. He makes every female character sound like a hateful female Tory. He makes everyone and every action sound overly knowing and pretentious. The guy really needs to chill the f*ck out, read the material and change his style badly. He’s articulate, but his style is utter b*llocks.

PS: I’d rather listen to a computer generated vocal reader, reading a text version than endure John Lee. I really would. If he’s reading it, I ain’t reading it.
