Witch that kind of description and the MC’s age, this sounds suspiciously like YA schlock.

Yep, this one is to be avoided. Listened to six hours of it at work and had to delete it to keep it from infecting my phone somehow. It is pretty much a teen romance checklist of cliches, complete with a pretty prince -ugh- which as a trope. seriously needs to die off.
The narrator reads in very dull monotone and uses the ‘cute whisper’ voice for spoken dialogue, especially for the protagonist. Also the girl is always saved via Deus ex Machina, so she has zero development.
Save your time.
The protagonist herself is a thoroughly useless example of the human race and needs a dawrin award. She spends the entire book running away, wringing her hands and staring at the floor.

I have read the entire series, she isnt so much saved as Deus ex Machina so much as Air Mages like the main character have abilities that are not explained until later books.

It is certainly targeted towards young adults, but I enjoyed the magical concepts and the story goes deeper in the last few books. This one is really just an intro to characters
